Sword of Uruk was the second season of the anime series The Tower of Druaga. This season has 12 episodes just like previous season Aegis of Uruk. Sword of Uruk was first telecast on January 8, 2009 after six months from first season. Jil, Fatina and other climbers who survived in the first season have settled in the city of Meskia.

In Aegis of Uruk, they had defeated Druaga but got betrayed by Kaaya and Neeba. Jil and his team have to climb the Tower again after a mysterious girl appears. The starting theme for this season is called “Questions?” played by Yu Nakamura. Closing theme is called “Mahōtsukai Desu Kedo” and it is performed by Fumiko Orikasa who also has voiced Kaaya. The ending theme for final episode is “Swinging” by Muramasa.

Episode 1: The Tower of Gilgamesh – Girugamesu no Tō

Druaga has been defeated 6 months ago and Gilgamesh renames the tower by claiming false credit. The experienced climbers are doing various things in their life. Fatina has become a tour guide and Kelb is running a pub. Utu has become an unmasked wrestler. Jil has been betrayed by Neeba and Kaaya and he is disturbed because of the same. Fatina calls him to watch a play so that she can cheer up Jil.

After that they go to see a wrestling match. A mysterious girl appears who appears Jil and Fatina. She has been chased by the Golden Knights lead by Uragon. Jil and Fatina take help from Utu and flee with the girl. She later reveals her name as Ki. She is the queen of Gilgamesh and first priestess of Ishtar. She asks Jil to take her to the top of the tower otherwise Kaaya will face bad fate.

Jil stays at Kelb’s place and decides to take Ki to top of the tower in order to find out the fate of Neeba and Kaaya. Fatina thinks that Jil might use her only for her magical skills and therefore refuses to this idea. Earlier, Neeba had used her. Kelb is surprised how, Ki who is like a child, can be the queen of Gilgamesh and therefore tries to learn more about her.

Meanwhile, Jil and Utu recruit Henaro and ascend the tower with Ki. In order to go up the tower they need to take a ladder. However, Uragon stops them from doing so while Fatina comes to help them. Ethana keeps the gate unlocked due to which the group can enter the transport. Fatina is thanked by Jil as she joined them. She tells him to give up if there is nothing on the top of the tower. She also asks him to protect her.

Episode 3: Meltland, City of Dreams – Yume no Machi Merutorando

Jil and his group reunite with Melt and Coopa after they climb to higher part of the tower. Melt and Coopa are running a very profitable resort in a cold area. Jil asks for help from Melt. For this Melt says that he has already made a deal with Uragon to capture Ki and imprison others. Uragon steps on one of the Ropers of employed by Melt that everyone get a chance to escape. Melt is ruined financially. Jil and his party carry on with their task of climbing the tower. Melt and Coopa are forced to go with Uragaon.

Sword of Uruk Episode 4: Into the Phantasm – Gen’ei no Naka e

Jil and his troops reach the top of the tower. However, they get attacked by Druaga who has become weak. Jil become unconscious after getting hit by a laser beam. He wakes up in another world where Ki is telling her story to Jil. Ki as well as Kaaya have been made to help Jil to climb the tower since previous six months. However, neither of them are interested in doing that. 80 years ago, Druaga had cursed Gilgamesh to become immortal. It is present as two separate entities, one in Meskia and another at the top of the Tower of Fantasy.


He is set to become an oppressive ruler because of which Kaaya and Neeba plan to kill him. But they need to kill the one at the top of the tower to do so. Jil wakes up to see Druaga defeated and gains access to second half of the tower through its key. Gremica and her party go towards top of tower as they take Henaro and Ki as hostages. Having no point of return, Jil, Fatina and Utu progress towards the top of the tower. Melt, Coopa and Uragon are following them but they are not aware of this.

Jil, Utu and Fatina chase Gremica and find Henaro when they end up in a barren landscape. But the place is filled with monsters and they need to take shelter in the shadows. Ki is forced by Gremica to cast a spell in order to reveal footprints of Neeba. This enables Jil and his team to find their way out. Near the exit there is no shadow because of which they need to topple a pillar.

The attacking monsters are destroyed as Melt uses magic in order to create a cloud of dust. Gilgamesh becomes unpredictable and tries to kill himself in Meskia. He gets stopped by a phantom of his other self. He wishes that Ki could save him.

Sword of Uruk Episode 6: The Four Assassins – Yottsu no Shikaku

Kaaya and Neeba are going across a wide continuous area of water. They do not realize that coffin knights are watching them. The unstable nature of the area is a reflection of Gilgamesh’s heart. Neeba and Kaaya gets attacked by Tear of Ice and Sword of Blood. These are the 2 of the 4 artificial soldiers coming out from the coffins belonging to Pazuzu. They are without any soul. However, Kaaya and Neeba take the help of the whirlpool in order to escape to the next floor.


Jil’s group and Gremica’s group are going through a forest. They get attached by Mite the Fool and Specula Ex Machina and they get separated. Gremica’s troop escape when Acra defeats Mite the Fool. Jil and his team kill Specula Ex Machina and they proceed to the next place. Uragon’s team discover an unconscious Mite the Fool but they decide to advance. Gilgamesh is become increasingly cruel and he decides to invade neighboring countries. Kelb and Ethana become witness to the same.

Episode 7: The Chateau of Everlasting Spring – Tokoharu no Yakata

Jil and his group meet with Melt and Coopa near a mansion on a green field. They are strangely get united with Ahmey and Kally who are deceased. Everybody except Uragon find someone who is dead or something that they lost which they wanted to see again. Pazuzu says that the coffin knights had gone crazy after his death. She says she does not have any regret for shooting him in the head being her father. Utu finds out a key to a locked gate but remains silent.

The three coffin knights which are left appear at the mansion and start attacking. Mite the Fool becomes conscious and discovers her mother Kally. Kally asks her to protect everyone. Therefore, she attacks her own colleagues. Uragon and Mite the Fool become tagged after wards. Ahmey reminds Jil of his resolve and gives him a headband. The band has been left by Kaaya. Ahmey vanishes as he goes past the gate with his group.

Sword of Uruk Episode 8: Their Past – Futari wa Katsute

Jil and his gang arrive in a cave and collide with Specula Ex Machina. Jil fools it and enables his friends to escape. He encounters Neeba and does not agree with his motivations of reviving the Sumar Empire. Jil’s friends finds Kaaya who is ill. Fatina and Utu try to awaken Kaaya. Henaro stealthily moves away to contact with Sword of Blood and Tear of Ice. Jil goes on to fight Specula Ex Machina.


Gremica and Acra come to reveal the occurrence of the Succubus. She tells that Neeba instead of reviving the Sumar Empire is following her. Neeba fights Gremica and pierces Acra’s chest. Jil destroys Specula Ex Machina with the help of Neeba. Neeba had been trained by Gremica after his father had died. Kelb sends a secret letter to Ethana and Ethana goes on to lead an uprising.

Episode 9: At the End of the Dream – Yume No Owari ni

Henaro has been sent on the task to bring the four coffin knights. Henaro is a spy sent out by Amina. Sword of Blood and Tear of Ice battles Fatina, Utu and Melt and knock them out. Jil finds out what happened afterward. A wounded Coopa and an awakened Kaaya are captured by Henaro. He takes them to the Tower of Fantasy and shadow of Gilgamesh puts them in a cage. Neeba and Succubus go to the doorway of the top floor along with Ki in the tow.

A riot has begun in the city of Meskia started by Ethana. Jil, Gremica and Uragon have their team meet among each other and find out their motivation for climbing the tower. A modification in structure happens to the Tower of Fantasy. Gilgamesh is controlled by his shadow and kills Amina for going behind his back.

Episode 10: Last Resort – Rasuto Rizōto

In the throne room, Kaaya is hung by the shadow of Gilgamesh. Jil and his team storm to the top of the tower after splitting up in different directions. Uragon is forced to contend to Henaro after being encountered. Meanwhile, Tear of Ice faces off against Jil, Fatina and Utu. Ethana is progressing on the riot but gets halted by Sheira. Kelb comes to intervene. Succubus is surprised as to why Ki wants to destroy the tower after getting the Blue Crystal Rod.


Coopa gets chased by an armored monster after she escapes from the cage. However, she gets saved by Melt. Fatina destroys Tear of Ice by using her fire magic. Her energy gets lost because of this. Neeba gets into battle with Sword of Blood and kills him. Neeba then confronts shadow of the king. Melt and Coopa meet up with Jil, Fatina, and Utu.

Neeba and the shadow of Gilgamesh fight in the throne room. Neeba gets defeated as Jil comes little bit late. Jil is not able to defeat the dangerous shadow and gets kicked continuously. Henaro has the control on Mite the Fool and takes on the shadow. Henaro gets damaged and gets deactivated after fighting the shadow.

Jil releases Kaaya from the wall on which she was hung. Jil presses hard at the shadow using all his might as the final battles ensues. He is about to get killed by the shadow of Gilgamesh. In this moment, Uragon comes and stabs the shadow in the chest. Jil later finishes the shadow off also causing the King Gilgamesh of Meskia to also die. Neeba takes control after informed by Succubus Neeba shoots Henaro and obtains the blue crystal rod. He uses the Blue Crystal Rod in order to transform the Tower into its purpose. It becomes a war machine for attacking the gods. It sets off a destructive blast that breaks the land beneath.

Episode 12: The Hands that bind – Kami o Utsu Mono

Initial date of telecast: March 26, 2009; Telecast in English: January 10, 2011

With the help of the Tower cannons, Neeba attacks Ishtar, and Ishtar fires back. Meskia gets destroyed and suffers losses due to the destruction caused. Kaaya prays to Ishtar to stop, whereas Ishtar asks Kaaya to stop Neeba. The team come back to tower in order to stop Neeba. Succubus is dealt by Kaaya who is trying to prevent Jil from stopping Neeba. Now Neeba is slowly converting to an evil just like Druaga, Neeba provokes Jil to fight him and threatens to kill everyone.


Later, Neeba transforms into a Druaga. Jil kills Neeba in the battle and proves to him that Jil is stronger than Neeba. This irritates Neeba. Neeba admits defeat while being killed. He says that he was jealous of Jil’s strength. Jil and other’s escape as the tower collapses to pieces. The curse finally is removed and everything finally becomes normal.
